A superb culinary variety bearing classic, small, oval, blue-black fruit with distinctive astringent rich flavour, juicy green-yellow flesh and which make incomparable jam. Also known as Prune Damson. Moderate but reliable cropper. Compact habit so suitable for smaller gardens. Traditional hedgerow tree which is a native 17th century Shropshire variety and is tolerant of a damp climate.
