This award winning hosta is unusual as it has a very upright habit. It has heavily veined, upright, narrow, dark green leaves with a slight blue hue and attractive, narrow gold margins. The leaves are tightly folded resembling hands in prayer. In August erect stems with pale lavender flowers appear above the foliage. Makes an excellent plant for borders or for container growing.
Hostas make ideal ground cover plants for sun or partial shade and once established can be left undisturbed for years. The variegated varieties keep their colouring better if planted in semi-shade. They thrive in well-drained but moisture retentive soils and this should be enriched with well rotted compost or leaf-mould. The foliage is most attractive and in the summer the plants are crowned with racemes of nodding trumpet-like flowers which are attractive to bees and other pollinating insects. They are also good planted in pots and containers and can brighten up a shady area with their dark green and gold variegated foliage. The foliage will die down in the winter then re-shoot in the spring. Height & Spread: 30 - 45cm (12 - 18ins).
