Excellent tough, dwarf, dense, bushy, evergreen plant with dense, glossy, dark green foliage. Bears many small green-white flowers from early to mid-summer and occasional colourful fruits in autumn. Tolerant of dense shade but leaf colour will be brighter in a sunny position. Makes an excellent, slow growing low hedge and is an excellent substitute for box where blight may be a problem, or can be used for ground cover if trimmed hard, or trained against a wall. Colour is best in full sun but is shade tolerant and will grow in heavy clay soils.
HEDGE Trim in May to stimulate new dense growth then again in September to tidy up for the winter. For hedges 20cm - 1m (10 - 40ins). Plant 25 - 35cm (10 - 14ins) apart.
SHRUB Height/spread 50 - 100cm (20 - 40ins) x 10 - 50cm (4 - 20ins) in 2-5 years.

Planting Distances for planting as a Hedge
We recommend planting Euonymus, Green Spire in a single row between 25cm/10ins apart and 35cm/14ins apart:
Planting closer will mean the plants will grow together and form a hedge quicker, but requires more plants.
To calculate the number of plants needed for a length of hedging, click on Planting Distance Calculator above.
Planting Guide & RootGrow
We recommend planting with RootGrow. The recommended amount for RootGrow for an order will be shown in your shopping basket.
We will send out a planting guide with your order, you also can find a guide to planting here.
Pruning
Hedging - As a general rule, plants grown for hedging need pruning to encourage side branching. Usually the harder a plant is pruned the bushier it will be. If they are not pruned there is a danger that the hedges will be thin and bare at the base and that the tips of the plants will die back. If the plant is naturally bushy, less or sometimes no pruning will be needed to achieve a dense hedge.
Euonymus, Green Spire: Prune any straggly or untidy shoots, otherwise no immediate pruning is required.
