Blackberries are always good to gather in the wild, but if you have the space in your garden for a cultivated variety you can be sure of an abundant crop of reliable, consistantly excellent flavoured and sized fruits, plus the pleasure of the white to purple flowers which are very attractive to pollinating insects, especially bees.
Karaka Black has enormous, easy-to-pick fruits up to 7cm (3ins) long, glossy, sweet, juicy, with good aromatic flavour from mid-July to September. Self-fertile. Plant 90 - 120cm (3 - 4ft) apart. £1 discount per plant when collected.
