Very attractive variety with feathery dark green leaves. From June to August it produces a continuous display of white eyed, velvety-crimson flowers in loose, flattened flower heads, which fade to buff-pink giving a superb two tone effect. These are held high on tall stems well above the foliage and should not be cut down until late winter so one can enjoy the dried seed heads in the winter sunlight. The flowers are good for cutting and are nectar and pollen rich so are attractive to bees, beneficial insects, butterflies and moths and it then produces seeds which provide good food for birds. Plant in full sun in moist but well drained soil, but when established tolerant of dryer conditions. Happy in exposed sites. Height 90cm (3ft), spread 75cm (30ins).
