Very striking form with dark purple-black stems and dark green leaves, with slight purple flush, which turn reddish-purple in autumn. Clusters of creamy-white flowers early summer followed by white fruits. Deciduous. Will make a good informal hedge. For this purpose plant 2ft (60cm) apart. SHRUB 7ft x 7ft (2.1m x 2.1m). If grown as a shrub prune hard in spring to improve stem colour.
