This thyme is one of the best for summer colour with its bright crimson flowers over small bronze-green evergreen leaves in May and June. The flowers are attractive to bees and butterflies. With its creeping habit it is good in rock gardens, herb gardens, front of a border or planted between pavers as it emits a wonderful fragrance when trodden on. Plant in a sunny position in light, poor soil. If the soil is heavy it will be less aromatic and will not flower so well.

Height 7cm (2.5ins), spread 20cm (8ins).
