Quince Trees

Quince is not a fruit often found in shops so if you have a suitable position in the garden to grow one it is well worth while as they are delicious. Quince is great for making jellies, jams and other preserves, and adds extra flavour with stewed apples.

They need a warm spot, so near a south facing wall where they will benefit from reflective heat will be ideal.
They benefit from a compost rich, slightly acidic soil, so use Sulphur Chips, if necessary.  To thrive they need plenty of water, preferably rain water.  They fruit mainly on the tips of shoots made in the previous year so prune in the dormant season bearing this in mind.
