Very hardy, deciduous, dense shrub with mounding habit. Vibrant, three lobed, golden-yellow leaves appear in spring which mature to mid-green by summer and these contrast with the dark stems. In summer it produces masses of clusters of five petalled, white flowers with tints of pink. These then turn into coral-red berries in exploding bracts. When the leaves drop in autumn this exposes mature branches with paper-like pealing bark revealing red and brown inner bark thus giving interest all the year round. Plant in full sun to partial shade in moist but well drained soil, but is intolerant of shallow chalky soil.
SHRUB Height and spread 1.3m (4.3ft).
