Hebes are a large family of evergreen shrubs grown for both their foliage and attractive flower spikes. Some are fully hardy and others need winter protection. They should be grown in poor or moderately fertile, moist but well-drained, neutral to slightly alkaline soil, in a sunny position or partial shade. They need shelter from cold drying winds.
