Persicaria odorata
Easy to grow Asian herb used extensively in S.E. Asian cooking where the fresh leaves are scattered over soups and in salads just before serving. They have a hot, spicy taste. The narrow, pointed, highly aromatic leaves are green with maroon-brown v-shaped markings. In hot summers, small creamy-white flowers appear in summer through to autumn. Protect from frost in winter, so best lifted before the first frosts. Grows well in containers.
Height 45cm (1.5ft), spread indefinite.
