A superb and more compact form of Wisteria than either Chinese or Japanese species for full sun or partial shade. As the plants are grown from cuttings, even young plants produce masses of large, dense clusters of lilac blue, pendulous flowers in May and June with a superb fragrance. Bees and other insects are particlarly attracted to the flowers which are edible and can be made into an aromatic wine. However, the rest of the plant is poisenous. When not in flower the plant is still attractive with its pendulous leaves which have up to 13 pale green leaflets. Height 5m (16ft), but this can be restricted to half this amount so it can be planted in a large pot where it will still produce a profusion of flowers. When planted out the soil should be well-drained and fertile. Pot grown plants.
