A neat, mounding evergreen shrub which is grown mainly for its outstanding foliage which is dense, slender, lanceolate and waxy. It emerges bright pink, turning more green in summer then burnished red in autumn and winter. The foliage shimmers in the light. It produces insignificent small white flowers in summer. Plant in shade or semi-shade in acidic soil either in a border or it is an excellent shrub for a container in ericaceous compost.
