Plant Sizes

As our catalogue is printed before the end of the growing season all sizes are based on anticipated growth rates.

Despatch

PLANTS ARE DESPATCHED FROM THE NURSERY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, BUT AT CERTAIN TIMES OF THE YEAR THERE MAY BE A DELAY OF SEVERAL WEEKS FROM THE RECEIPT OF AN ORDER TO ITS DESPATCH.

The main problem is caused by the build up of orders for bare rooted plants in September and October while we are waiting for the plants to become dormant, so if you want your plants in November please order early. As far as possible we despatch orders in the sequence in which we receive them, subject always to availability of the plants. We try to avoid despatching plants when the ground is frozen. We do find that planting in autumn, January and February causes fewest problems. In March and April the plants have often started into growth and are more susceptible to adverse conditions and delays in transit.

Availability

Pot grown and cell grown plants (marked Pg, Cg in the catalogue) are usually available for despatch or collection all year round. Bare rooted plants (listed as Sd, Br or Tr in the catalogue) can only be despatched when dormant, normally from late-November until March, but these dates vary with the weather and with the variety of plant.

Substitutes

In the event of non-availability, we can try to substitute with smaller or younger plants, or similar varieties. If you would like us to send substitutes please say so on your order. We reserve the right to send available plants and not charge (or refund if payment has been made) for out-of-stock items.

Changing and Cancelling Your Order

You can change or cancel your order at any time up to the time your order is packed or reserved for collection with the exception of non-stock lines which you have requested us to order for you. When paying by credit or debit card we do not charge your card until the goods are packed or reserved.

Please call us on 01280 827925 and quote your order reference number to change your order.

Warranty and Returns/Refund Policy

If you would like to cancel or change your order before it is despatched or collected please contact us. We don't charge your card until the order is ready for despatch/collection. If you order has reached this stage and you have been charged you will receive a full refund, unless your order contains items specially ordered or customised for you.

All plants and goods are sent out in good condition, but if you are dissatisfied on receipt of goods please first contact us on 01280 827925 or by email to discuss this.

When you buy goods from a business, in law you have a number of rights as a consumer. These include the right to claim a refund, replacement, repair and/or compensation where the goods are faulty or misdescribed.

In addition to your legal rights, we also allow you to return goods if you simply change your mind. If the goods are returned to us within 14 days as unused, in their original packaging and in a state that they can be resold we will offer you an exchange, a credit note or a refund. With plants they would need to be cared for during the time you have them (for example, making sure they are in a frost free place and watered if needed).

If the product you received was damaged, incorrect or faulty item we will pay for the cost of returning the item (if the item was sent to you, rather than collected from the shop). Otherwise it is your responsibility to pay for the cost of returning the items and for any loss or damage to them in transit back to us. For this reason we recommend that you use a recorded delivery service. In this case we can arrange for a carrier to pick up the parcel(s) at your cost.

Refunds will be done through the same payment method that was used to pay for the items.

When plants are newly transplanted they are more susceptible to diseases and adverse conditions. A healthy plant can fail should it become dried out, be planted in unsuitable conditions, be affected by cold whilst not established, or many other like factors and we cannot accept responsibility for failures. Should any failures occur we will consider claims if sent by August with complete details and we would usually offer to replace the plants in the autumn at half-price plus normal carriage charge. This offer does not affect your statutory rights.
