Upright, glossy, oval, chartreuse-green leaves with wide, dark green irregular margins. Large, fragrant, white flowers in August which are attractive to bees and other pollinating insects. Best planted in semi-shade or shade

Hostas make ideal ground cover plants for sun or partial shade and once established can be left undisturbed for years. This variety keeps its colour better if planted in semi-shade. It thrives in well-drained but moisture retentive soils and this should be enriched with well rotted compost or leaf-mould. The foliage is most attractive and in the summer the plants are crowned with racemes of nodding trumpet-like flowers which are attractive to bees and other pollinating insects. They are also good planted in pots and containers and can brighten up a shady area with their colourful foliage. The foliage will die down in the winter then re-shoot in the spring. Fast growing to 55 - 60cm (22 - 24ins) tall with a spread of 75 - 80cm (30 - 31ins).
