Small-bushy upright evergreen shrub with dense dark glossy green foliage. Makes a strong but slow growing dwarf hedge and is an excellent substitute for box where blight may be a problem. Very easy to keep as a neat small hedge or it is good for use as topiary. Suitable for any moist but well drained soil, even heavy clay. For best colour plant in full sun, but is tolerant of partial or full shade. HEDGE Trim in May to stimulate new dense growth then again in September to tidy up for the winter. For hedges 20cm-1m (10-40ins). Plant 25-35cm (10-14ins) apart. SHRUB Height/spread 50-100cm (20-40ins) x 10-50cm (4-20ins) in 2-5 years.
