Showy plant with a compact mound of aromatic, grey-green foliage. Plant in fertile, moist, well-drained soil in sun or partial shade in a warm position to give protection in winter. From June to October it produces numerous, slender, purple-black flower spikes with violet-purple flowers. Flowers are attractive to bees and butterflies. Height and spread 50cm (20ins).
