Heuchera are grown predominantly for their leaf colour but produce slender stems of flowers in the summer that are attractive to butterflies. This easy to grow perennial is tolerant of many different growing conditions including full sun, shade, drought and seaside locations. Grow in any fertile, well drained soil. Evergreen in mild winters but tidy damaged leaves in the spring and divide clumps every 3-4 years to encourage vibrant young growth. Good resistance to damage by deer and rabbits. Be careful not to bury the crowns when planting.
An eye-catching variety with incredible flaming red, thick leathery leaves which are shiny, rounded and lobed forming a dense mounding mass. The searing red colour is most pronounced in spring and autumn taking on a browner hue in summer, and in milder areas it will hold its leaves all winter in the more subdued darker red. Trim off any withered leaves in the spring. In June, July and August dainty white to pink flowers appear above the foliage on maroon stems and these are attractive to butterflies. An easy to grow plant which is deer and rabbit resistant, it is fast growing and drought resistant. It will thrive in any fertile, well drained soil in full sun, part or full shade but colour is most dramatic in part-shade. As with all Heucheras, be careful not to bury the crowns when planting. Tolerant of full sun, but better planted in partial shade in any fertile, well drained soil. Height 9ins (23cm) Spread 14ins (35cm) Flower Height 13ins (33cms)
