Chamomile, Lawn
Chamaemelum nobile Treneague
This variety of chamomile makes a fine alternative to grass in positions where mowing would be a problem. However, it must be only where foot traffic is light, and after planting as a lawn there should be no footfall for at least 12 weeks, then only very light for the first year. This variety has dark finely divided leaves and is a non-flowering form so can only be propagated by division but there will be no flowers to be removed.
For a lawn, plant 10-20cm (4-8ins) apart in an open sunny site with light soil. Very low growing.
Height 5-10cm (2.5-4ins) Spread 20cm (8ins) and more.
