Rosmarinus officinalis Barbeque
This variety has a chunky upright habit with bright green, needle-like, evergreen foliage. It is fast growing and produces two lipped clear blue flowers up the stems from spring into summer. It is an excellent culinary variety and acquired its name as it is good for growing near a BBQ where stems can be cut and tossed onto the coals of the fire producing a wonderful fragrance. Apart from its many cooking uses of the leaves, the stems can also be used as kebab skewers.
Plant in well-drained light soil in a sunny position.
Height 1m (3 1/3ft), spread 60cm (18ins).
