Evergreen, spreading sub-shrub with small, shiny, aromatic green leaves with attractive, irregular cream variegation. Short spikes of tiny purple-pink flowers in late spring and early summer which are attractive to bees and butterflies and should be trimmed back after flowering. Excellent for winter colouring as the leaves take on tints of pink and bronze.

Good versatile culinary herb with many uses and as the leaves are softer than some thymes they are easy to chop and not chewy if used raw. Plant in a sunny position in light, poor soil. If the soil is heavy it will be less aromatic and will not flower so well.

Height 20cm (8ins), spread 15cm (6ins).
