Very ornamental round-headed bushy tree with blackish-purple stems and young leaves red, turning to deep purple when mature. Masses of pink flowers from early to mid-spring and these are sometimes followed by plum like fruits. Sunny position. Also available as smaller plants suitable for hedging or trees in main Hedging and Tree section. TREE 25ft x 25ft (7.6m x 7.6m) in 20 years, ultimate height 30ft (9m).
