Herbs:For Windowsills

A collection of five herbs selected by T&M especially for growing on windowsills. They provide an excellent range of textures and flavours which may be used in cooking, salads or for medicinal use. Bush Basil forms compact plants with lots of fragrant spicy leaves, ideal to accompany tomato dishes. Sweet Marjoram is mild and sweet and ideal for stuffing, soups and stews. Fernleaf Dill, bred for bushiness and a dwarf habit, is the ultimate accompaniment to fresh fish. Chives add a savoury zest to salads or as a garnish. Finally, no herb collection would be complete without Parsley Clivi, with its highly ornamental foliage and tangy flavour.

PACKET CONTENTS: One packet each of: Bush Basil - Hardy Annual; 23cm (9in), Sweet Marjoram - Half Hardy Annual: 25cm (10in), Femleaf Dill - Hardy Annual: 45cm (18in), Chives - Hardy Perennial: 30cm (12in), and Parsley Clivi - Hardy Perennial: 23cm (9in).

Sowing Instructions. Germinate at 18-20C (64-68F) on the surface of a good free draining, damp seed compost. Apply a fine sprinkling of vermiculite, 3mm (¼ in) deep. Place in a propagator or seal container inside a polythene bag until after germination which usually takes 14-21 days. Do not exclude light, as this helps germination.

Growing Instructions. Transplant when large enough to handle, singly into 7.5cm (3in) pots.

Aftercare Instructions. Harvest evenly from each plant to maintain a neat appearance, and also to prolong cropping period.
