Fast growing handsome deciduous tree, with large shiny leaves. Very tolerant of atmospheric pollution. Attractive in winter, when prickly ball-shaped fruits hang like baubles, and the flaking mottled cream and brown bark is particularly noticeable. TREE 30ft x 15ft (9m x 4.6m) in 20 years, ultimate height 100ft (30m).
