What base do I need?
All cabins require a flat level Base. We recommend
a concrete slab. For the smaller models in the range
up to and including the Lillevilla 70 model a 4 inch
deep concrete base is sufficient. For the larger models
such as the Lillevilla 80, Lillevilla 100 and the 110
a 6 inch deep reinforced concrete base should be utilised.
Will I need planning permission?
Planning permission is not required for our smaller
cabins providing that they are under four metres in
height and that the cabins is 5 metres from rear wall
of you house and it does not take up more than half
your garden area that includes any other sheds/greenhouses
also. If you are on a corner plot the cabin can not
go past the line of the house any nearer the road than
the house without planning permission.
For our larger cottages such as the Lillevilla 100/110,
Robjohns 34 and the lodge house you will probably need
planning permission as they are above 4 metres in height.
A significant amount of planning authorities regard
timber buildings as having a low impact on the environment.
It is always wise to check with your local authority
(especially if you live in a conservation area or live
in a listed building).
What is included with the cabin?
- Doors and windows all pre hung and glazed.
- All nails screws, fixings, handles and door lock.
- Roofing felt (unless you have gone for the felt
shingles).
- Pre assembled gables.
- Pressure treated bearers.
- Detailed instructions (with access to telephone
helpline if required).
- Free delivery to UK mainland addresses
Can I add extra windows
and doors?
Extra windows and doors can be added at the time of
ordering, they will however need to be cut into the
building during installation.
Are cabins pre-treated?
Lillevilla and Luoman cabins are not pre-treated due
to the nature of their construction and therefore need
to be treated within 2 weeks of installation. We recommend
treating both the inside and outside, as well as applying
silicone in the outside corner joints for extra protection.
What timber treatment
do you recommend?
We recommend Sikkens Cetol Novatech. It provides increased
coating flexibility, superior absorption and protection
plus greater durability to withstand the natural movement
of the timber. It is available in 8 shades and can be
supplied with the building if required.
Is the wood from a sustainable
source?
Yes, they also have a certification from the Pan European
Forestry Council (PEFC). Waste wood is made into heating
fuel pellets.
Do you provide an installation
service?
Yes, we can provide an installation service if required.
However, 80% of people who buy a Lillevilla cabin erect
it themselves - it is easy to do!
Can you provide additional thermal
insulation?
Yes, we can supply a foil backed insulation board to
go underneath the tongue and groove wooden floor, between
the floor bearers. We can also provide roof insulation.
